Your Impact Matrix

In a transformation, real focus and high engagement are key ingredients to achieving impact, in my experience. A helpful question to regularly ask is how the business overall, the different leaders, departments, projects and team score on the above matrix?

In every situation, there is a constant gravity to dilution of focus due to new demands and distractions. Additionally, a high level of engagement tends to erode due to frustration, disappointments or by causing the law of familiarity to kick in.

To counter this, active management of both dimensions is needed. It’s key to continuously re-clarify specific, meaningful, measurable goals and priorities with deadlines.

It’s also essential to invest in nurturing engagement by focusing on new challenges, improving teamwork, creating empowerment, contributing to a greater purpose, providing learning opportunities, incentives, etc.
