Which personality are you?

When dealing with a transformation, people tend to have different positions. In the classical metaphoric book ‘Who Moved my Cheese’ by Spencer Johnson, four positions to unexpected change are illustrated which you could summarize as follows:

  1. The Innovator: is expecting, looking for, and anticipating change.
  2. The Producer: once change is happening, moves into action to adapt.
  3. The Unifier: once a new change is there and the change creates a better outcome, learns to adapt.
  4. The Stabilizer: denies change and refuses to shift even if the current position has become unattractive.

 

I have experienced that it’s particularly key to nurture more Innovator attitudes in a team and to convince Unifiers to go with the change as key part of a transformation.

I have also seen that people can have different change positions in different areas in their private and professional lives.
